Austin Fitness Index and Mayors Fitness Council
Working with the Austin Mayor’s Fitness Council, Illuminas developed and executed the Austin Fitness Index program, based on research conducted by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The research was designed to assess the community’s fitness level, based upon four pillars of health: physical activity, nutrition, healthy weight and tobacco use.
The Austin Fitness Index is an ongoing tool that many agencies, organizations, and groups of people use to evaluate themselves, set goals and work together towards improvement.

AMD-LAF Technology and Cancer Research
The statistics surrounding the cancer community are startling; every day, numerous individuals are diagnosed with cancer, and every day, even more people suffer. Illuminas partnered with and the Lance Armstrong Foundation to conduct focus groups, one on one interviews and quantitative survey among all those impacted by cancer: patients, survivors, caregivers, oncologists and oncology RNs. The mission was to discover ways technology can better the quality of life for those fighting cancer and for those who are about to be diagnosed, and to determine ways the LAF can better support the cancer community through livestrong.org.

Jack Gilbert Ethical Health Research
Illuminas designed a research program for ethic’s expert, Jack Gilbert, based on an extensive discussion of ethical pathways and disciplines (or everyday practices) that strengthen the ethical health of an organization. The survey helps to raise awareness of ethics in the workplace (including cultural ethics, leadership ethics and personal integrity), and allows individuals in an organization or work group to compare their ethical health to the health of other organizations who participate in the ongoing research.

Help America Vote Act
In 2005, Illuminas conducted a quantitative survey among US consumers to better understand current trends regarding voting behavior, gauge awareness of voting and registration services, and assess the potential impact that unrestricted precincts would have on voting behavior.
The insight gained from the research helped inform future research and provided direction to propel the efforts of the Help America Vote Campaign.

Bill Wilson Homeless & Runaway Youth Center
The ‘Always a Bed’ youth research was designed to profile the youth receiving services from the Bill Wilson center, a California-based program committed to working with the community to ensure that every youth has access to the variety of services needed to grow to be healthy and self-sufficient adults. The research measured the experiences, perspectives and needs of the program’s youth (on such metrics as housing situation, financial support, education, occupational aspirations, support services desired, etc.) to enable them to better serve their community.
